                                  What Is Yertopia?

                                  Picture
When the idea of Yertopia came about, there was a great deal of time spent trying to explain the concept behind it and why it would work. Unfortunately,  my experience at explaining led to alot of eyes glazing over and alot of people drifting in and out of consciousness. Not to mention, the friend pool greatly dwindled. Finally, after realizing that people would only want to talk to me after they had run out of their prescription sleep medicine and needed " a little help", I tried a new approach.  I decided not to put everything out there at once, instead inform in little, bite size pieces.   I would be proud if you would think of this page as the first of the little bite size pieces and then still find yourself hungry enough to want another.

                                  Why this way?
Imagine going to the mechanic because your brand new Ford Mustang convertible is making a strange noise. After speaking with the mechanic, he goes on to tell you that he has diagnosed the problem and he has concluded that: blah, blah, blah has to be ordered from blah, blah, blah, who will order it from blah and it will take the FED EX plane leaving Boston at 9:34PM, be assigned a tracking number of 123495.2111.224566.22422 and arrive in Cleveland at 11:25PM, where it will take a small Toyota Prius, driven by a man wearing, blue jeans, a dark red hat with "I love rock and roll" on the bill of the cap. Then the package will.........Ok..see where I am going with this? It is all so overwhelming and the mechanic and you would have been much better off just saying "It will cost $129.45 and will be ready tomorrow at 9AM."

That being said you need to know something about us in order to make a good decision and decide whether or not you would like to learn more.
                                  Fair enough.

                                  The Beginning:
The idea was born as a result of the pursuit of a Doctorate, and the culminating dissertation, questioning the relationship between current leaders and future leaders and the inabilty of our current education system to take advantage of the inherent knowledge base the exists within every community. Some of the questions that had to be asked and investigated were:

                                  1.  How could we get more ethical people to participate in their community, their state, their nation and become better prepared for leadership roles?
                                  2. How could conceptual (classroom) education processes and experiential (hands on) education processes be combined to help the student master, rather than simply complete a curriculum?
                                  3. How could experiential education be made as valuable as conceptual education to the student, and the community and attain national as well as regional accreditation standards?
                                  4. How or why would a current business owner, manager or current community leader share their knowledge with future leaders?
                                  5. How could we develop a program that embraced the largest education system in the country (public school system) and provided opportunity for leadership development and increases in graduation rates?
                                  6. How could we use the knowledge base of local communities to help build the knowledge base of other communities?
                                  7. How could the program be used to reward economic and leadership stimulation for local businesses and the audience they seek to serve?
                                  8. How could the program make sure that all education programs were accredited by the highest accreditation agencies in the world?
                                  9. How could we help to build a community of leaders dedicated to the pursuit of excellence through education, experience, empowerment and enlightenment, while ensuring those same leaders understood values, integrity, compassion, and the "Golden Rule"?
                                  10. How could we build a system that would take advantage of the vast amounts of ignored knowledge, that exists within every community, in such a way that it would help the community?
                                  11. How could we turn every community into an accredited classroom and ensure business participation?
